All Things Scrapped

Smile! You’re at the best site ever

The things I want to know are in books; my best friend is the man who’ll get me a book I ain’t read. -Abraham Lincoln

How fun and true is this. If you know there is information I am researching or a subject I am into at the moment and get me a book that is about that I can tell you know you will be on my good friend list. I enjoy reading and I enjoy research. I do not know everything and I do not plan on learning everything but what I want to know I will find the time to go and look it up so that I may be knowledgeable.

This quote to me means knowledge is power and success s only found where you look. What this means is that in all situations it is possible that things go wrong but no matter what the situation there is a lesson to be learned. Even if it seems as though things will never be right it is important to figure out what the story is and understand how it involves you in your personal situation.

Say I lost someone really close to me. I don’t mean by death but just say someone walked out of my life because they didn’t like how I was a friend or they did not like how I talked or they did not like how selfish I was. Some people would say well the loss is theirs or they will say something like well they weren’t a really friend to begin with if they gave up that easily, etc. It happens I have said these things as well. However when I turn and look at what the case really could be or what role I truly played in it I would be able to see the message behind the mess.

In a situation as the one stated above I would begin to check myself. If everything lines up and is right on with the person who walked out of my life, there must need to be some change. The way that I see it is well the problem is me and the lesson to be learned is that a friendship is a two-way street. I can only take take take for so long before the other person feels like they are not receiving anything in return.

This is not just a writing full of words but of experience. Friendship is someone knowing who they are and being able to give back to someone else. Every time the word give is spoken it is thought to only being money. However, this is not true. It is important that others know that when you give it can be time, a listening ear, a shoulder to cry on, a meal, money, a ride, a pat on the back, etc. The giving is endless and it is important that when a friendship/relationship is established the other know what is expected so they are with able to give what is needed or be upfront about what they can and cannot do.

Look at all situations as an opportunity to learn and make changes if necessary. It is important that everything is taken as a serious learning experience. This is not to say be paranoid about all situations but to be aware of surrounds and making sure the big picture is reviewed and acknowledged.

It’s Been A While

Well it has definitely been a while since I have been here. I originally decided that this blog would be about crafting and my One Little Word (OLW) for the year. After careful review I have decided that I have so much to talk about on my everyday activities and my married life that I want to share much more with you all. I enjoy writing but I always feel limited when I come to this blog because of the way I set it up in the beginning.

I am having a debate with myself wondering if maybe I should just start a new blog for the everyday stuff and still have this one for my OLW and my weekly layouts or if I should just use this one for a mixture of both. I am going to give you all the opportunity to weigh-in and give me your thoughts.

I am so excited about the things that God has done in my husband and my life here lately. I feel like when people speak about all the good that God is doing their lives people will begin to think that it sounds cliché or it sounds untrue. However I am the type that will say it until my black face turns blue because it is the truth and there is no way I would be doing anything that I am doing or receiving all the blessings I am receiving without giving the ONE who makes it all possible the glory.

In February there are a number of things that occurred for me and my family. Nick and I both were blessed with cars. Nick received a 2004 Nissan Murano which has a few miles on it but it is definitely getting him from point A to point B and he absolutely loves it. I received a 2013 Kia Optima that I could not love any more than I do. It is an amazing silver car with 11,000 miles on it and it is definitely my style. Nick made it to see 24 and I graduated college. There things that I can be thankful for but these four are at the top of my list for February and I would not talk back any moment for the world.

I have notice another reason I like to share about my everyday life is because it is important for others to see when you do what God has sent you to do and you live life as straight and narrow as you possibly can that He is going to reward you just as his word says; it is important for others to hear stories. In my personal experience it helps me to not give up. I also like sharing because it is important that God gets ALL the glory that he deserves.

I enjoy writing it is my passion I just hope all you ladies and gents enjoy what you are ready. Feedback is necessary for success so please do not hesitate to give feedback and let me know what you all would suggest as far as another blog for personal posts or including them here.

Two Weeks…

Every Week

I can not believe that it has been two weeks since I posted. I had planned on posting at least one post a week and I see I have not been doing that. This is my 4th post in a month which is good because if I plan on posting weekly I would have taken care of 4 of the weeks in this month already. I do know that I will make sure that I post as planned because believe it or not I have so much to say about project life, scrapbooking, and all things art! Well this is it for now… Ladies and Gents please keeping coming back and sharing with me my success and share your successes as well. Thank you everyone who takes the time to stop by and read what I have to say and seeing the photos I have posted.

Project Life Week 2

WK 2 Left

Week 2 was an exciting week. I did another 2-page spread as usual and I added many pictures and enjoyed being able to keep the memories that I have. On this page which is the left side of my spread included pictures from two of my project life card swaps, a sunny day, me sending off my swaps plus another fun package, and the blender that Nick and I chose. The cards used were from the Jade kit and a yellow tag printed and cut out from the 3 label punch printable.

WK 2 Right

On the right side of the spread I have mostly pictures expressing myself and my wonderful husband for the week. This week he made a famous chicken alfredo meal with asparagus which is one of my favorite veggies. I also decided that I would add a picture of Nick goofing around the grocery store. I decided that I would use a colored card to stamp “my handsome cook” on and add part of his photo. I actually really like this technique. Taking a photo and cutting in half but adding it to two pockets. I definitely had to add a picture of myself. I see a little progress already in my walk to losing some weight. I am taking things slowly but it is definitely worth it in the end. Week two was a great week as usual and I am just thankful having been able to share my progress with you.

Respect Is…

Respect Choices

Respect is such a huge deal. When I look at this photo and it makes me realize that respect is much more than just a word. It is full of action and choices. Although there are things that we will not like and people who will be disrespectful, it is our choice to be humble and remember that respect is something that everyone would like to receive. Personally I give respect because I want to get respect. It doesn’t matter to me what people are saying, how they are looking, or what they are thinking because it is me who wants the respect. I have no control over anybody except for me and if I am holding the key to respect then I am definitely going to be the one that turns the key and uses it.

This photo and statement just makes me smile. I am thankful to be able to see and understand how important the word respect really is. Just because your are a wife, husband, friend, parent, associate, adult, or child, does not mean that respect is going to fall in your lap. You have to earn it. You have to be true to yourself and realize that respect is something that will fall in your hands only when you give it and when you hold yourself to standards to receive it.

Respect IsLast is this nice picture. Respect is a two-way street which is known to everyone but sometimes has to be revisited. If you want to earn respect or get respect you must give it. Not because it is an obligation but because that is what you have told yourself that you want to gain for yourself. When I think of respect I do not think about how I can show respect in front of other or this will make me look good but I give it because I know it is the way of life and I will not earn respect or get respect if I am being disrespectful to others or if I am not holding myself to a standard that demands respect. I am not able to make anyone respect me but I can make sure others know that I will not take or accept disrespect from anybody.

Project Life {2014} Title Page

I was pretty excited to start Project Life because I have always been a traditional scrapper and I wanted to do something different that would not take much time but have amazing results. I also wanted to do something that I knew would be fun and keep me engaged. When I am engaged that is when I can do my best work and when things look awesome (almost flawless). I wanted to share with you all my very first Project Life Title Page

ImageIn this layout I used different items and just loved the way that it came out. I have so many PL kits that I am going to make sure that I mix. them up; believe it or not that is what keep Project Life fun.

ImageThe card here is from the Coral core kit. It says “smile life is sweet” I added the word “in” with mini market stickers and {2014} in pink sprinkles thickers.

This one here is my absolute favorite. I used my Potty People wood veneers one for Nick (My Husband) and one for Me. This card in the middle that says “The Johnsons” was created by me and shrunk down to fit the way I needed.

I am thankful to be able to do something so fun. Documenting every week of my life for a year will give me many memories to look back on. The good bad and ugly will go in here. This is not going to be a book of only the good and special time because they will be phony and the lack of respect in my documenting will be in total opposite of the goal I am trying to reach this year {Read Here} to know what goal I am speaking of.

There will be much more to come. Hope you all enjoy what I share. Remember to comment and follow.

Until Next Time God Bless

-Char Johnson

My {One Little Word} 2014

I am a little nervous about my first post. I have tried this before and I did not keep up with it as I would have liked to. However this is 2014 and my goals and priorities are a bit different this year. I wanted to share a post about my One Little Word. I believe to keep myself accountable and reliable to uphold this word I must share.

Respect- is a feeling of deep admiration for someone or something elicited by their abilities, qualities, or achievements.

This word not only found me but it invaded my space. I’ve been through some things just as everyone has but to get out of those “dark” places I have to first respect myself enough to let myself live. Once I take on myself it will be easier for me to respect those around me that I deeply love and admire and want to be happy with me and who I am as a person.

I am interested in taking a journey to see how the word respect touches me, grows on me, and changes my life and those around me. I ask that you take this walk with me to experience the success of my journey in 2014. Only I can tackle and master the goals I set for me and my family.
